[edit] Biography

When Alexander Blach got his first iPod touch in 2008, he was amazed by the novel UI and wanted to code apps for this device. After practicing a bit with some simple apps, he quit his job as a developer of business apps to become an independent developer in February 2009. He developed the German app "Rezepte" which was and still is a huge success in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. At first he continued to code Windows applications for clients, but since 2010 he focuses exclusively on mobile apps.

Because of the popularity of "Rezepte" he was contacted by quite a few people who where looking for an iPhone developer. He developed the "Food Guide" and some other apps for Michael Ditter of ditter.projektagentur GmbH – usually a producer of books who discovered the iPhone as the perfect device for this project.

Needless to say, Michael has good contacts with several publisher he produces books for. So, when the iPad was introduced in 2010, Alexander got his hands on a hard copy of the German edition of "Das Foto-Kochbuch – Schnell und einfach" (The Photo Cookbook – Quick & Easy). Michael Ditter and Alexander Blach teamed up with Parragon Books Ltd. and created an iPad app of the same name. This app was a huge international success and was even featured on TV in Apple's iPad ad "iPad is delicious".

In July 2010 Alexander started to work on his new app "Textastic". It's a code editor with support for syntax highlighting for iPad – the first of its kind that can handle reasonably large source code files. He coded his own editor component from the ground up with the help of CoreGraphics and CoreText. The app is available on the App Store since October 13, 2010.
