Ortwin Gentz

Ortwin Gentz is founder and lead developer of the iPhone app development company FutureTap. He's based in Seefeld at the south-western outskirts of Munich, Germany.

Ortwin Gentz is a long-time Mac user, his first one was a Mac LC running System 6.0.7. After finishing his diploma in computer science at TU Munich he cofounded the Mac software vendor equinux, in 1999. After nearly 10 years the former founders went separate ways and Gentz founded FutureTap. Being a two-time Apple Design Awards winner[1], Gentz is passionate about combining rich functionality with gorgeous user interface design.

- Where To? – GPS Points of Interest, originally developed by tap tap tap, Gentz/FutureTap acquired[2] the app in 2008, brought it back to the App Store and has since then developed two new major versions.

- InAppSettingsKit: framework to display a settings in-app in addition to the Settings app, developed together with Luc Vandal
- FTLocationSimulator: simulate Core Location updates in the iPhone simulator
- iTunesFeaturedCheck: small script to scrape featured entries from the App Store
